What I Learned In My Spiritual Transformation

( Storytime )

Spiritual transformation is never linear. It can come in different forms. Like a butterfly going through its metamorphosis, spiritual transformation has seasons, too. I realized this after my recent accident.

Last month, August 2023, I, unfortunately, went through an accident that had me see my doctors again after so many years. It had something to do with my brain health and the effect of stress on my overall well-being. Anyway, I don’t want to go into the details of the accident and the findings of my doctors. I want to focus on the lessons and realizations that surfaced after the accident.

Strangely, one accident is powerful enough to highlight something you are going through that you have not realized just yet. As I always believe, there are no coincidences. Every little thing that happens has a reason for being.

My recent accident led me to some realization of my spiritual transformation.

What is Spiritual Transformation?

I don’t think everyone goes through a spiritual transformation in their life. Some people I know have become old and gray but have not evolved.

Spiritual transformation is a process of evolving from the level of Ego to Soul. In simple words, it is when you start to let go of parts of yourself and your whole life, in general, that no longer serve you. You are basically unbecoming who you are not.

Evolving to your Higher Self is what is happening in a spiritual transformation. A metamorphosis, you can say.

But I tell you, this transformation does not take place with ease. It is a beautiful yet painful process. Long and exhausting, it will tear you open before you reach Soul level.

Spiritual Transformation: The Lessons Learned

The accident had shaken my thoughts so wild. In the first two days, my brain started to work overdrive about things in my life that I needed to put into perspective. My emotions were also in high gear. Physically, some parts of me felt like they were literally tapering off. Some felt like they were disintegrating. It was confusing, exhausting, and depressing at the same time. On the contrary, it was fulfilling as well.

I then realized that my spiritual transformation has taken me to new levels. The accident only brought it up even more, compelling me to look within even further. One level opens up, and then another and another. It seems like infinity, and maybe it is.

So, what have I learned from my own spiritual transformation experience? Allow me to share it with you.

LESSON 1: It is not easy. In fact, it is scary.

Imagine walking through a dark, unfamiliar, empty road. In that road is nothing but darkness and silence. There are no familiar people. You have no support system to turn to. Walking through that road makes you feel unsafe. Unprepared and indefensible, you are.

That’s what a spiritual transformation feels like. It is extremely scary!

Everything is unfamiliar to you, and you have no clue what’s next. No one trained you to go through this. Perhaps no one even spoke about it. And the most challenging part is you go through this alone, not knowing how to survive it.

LESSON 2: It is painful but it teaches you how to heal your wounds.

For you to reach Soul level and meet your Higher Self, this spiritual transformation will tear you open. Because of its solitary process, it challenges all your internal and external systems to keep their function perfectly well. More often than not, they will go on hyperdrive to keep up.

Old ways, traumas, triggers, and pains will emerge over and over until you heal them. Intensely, these wounds will resurface until you learn to let go of them. Indeed, the spiritual transformation process will force you to confront these pains individually. And there is no exit door for it but to heal them one wound at a time.

The good news is that eventually, you discover ways to navigate toward healing these wounds. You learn to write your new system of doing things that are healthy for you. As a result, choosing yourself becomes your priority.

LESSON 3: It teaches you about complete surrender.

As you learn to steer through the scary and painful parts, you learn the essence of total surrender. Fears start to dissipate. Doubts gradually dissolve. A deep knowing suddenly emerges.

Spiritual transformation is living in the context of Faith.

You now have a deep knowing of the Divinity of God. Surrending your life to the One who holds it becomes easy. You also understand that everything, every joy, and every pain, is all part of the process of you becoming that beautiful butterfly that you are. Furthermore, you get a deeper understanding of your life purpose.

Unconditionally, you surrender to the process no matter how painful and difficult it is because you know it is bringing you to your highest transformation — your Higher Self.

My Advice

Do not be afraid to go through your spiritual transformation. This process of becoming is fulfilling in the end.

Remember this. A life well-lived is not what the Ego has done. Instead, it is measured by what the Soul has achieved in this lifetime and next.

Go through your beautiful spiritual transformation! Like the butterfly, your wings will eventually appear.

Choose to go through it. Do you know why? Because there is STRENGTH and FREEDOM when you transform.
